Bus stop Countdown displays

Lewisham councillors have just been sent a 'consultation' by London Buses about replacing the Countdown displays at bus stops across Lewisham (and the rest of London).

But from their map it looks as if all Countdown signs at stops along the South Circular, between Forest Hill and Catford stations, are to be reContinue

Road Safety in Perry Vale and Perry Rise

I've been badgering a host of people by email over the past few days, setting up all the people we want to get involved in the Road Safety consultation event agreed by the Local Assembly. Data protection rules (apparently) prevent Council staff from giving contact details to the consultants we've hired. I met with Andrew and Brigid from Creative Process (a Deptford-based firm who've done some similar 'participative planning' exercises in other parts of Lewisham before) and they'll be coming to t… Continue

Tree Planting in Mayow Park 28/01/10

I was honoured to be invited to celebrate the planting of two trees in Mayow Park, One, a Larch, by the Friends of Mayow Park, and the other, a Gingko, by the Bromley Reform Synogue. It was a splendid event, and led to a discussion between myself and the chair of FOMP and our head of Green Scene,

“Through hail and rain, sun and snow..."

I was pleasantly surprised at 7am this morning to hear the Lewisham refuse truck at work, emptying our bins as usual on a Tuesday.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised but I thought it was notable - despite the road conditions and the undoubted extra demands on the crews from conditions in the depot (it's usually a bit of a Sokoban puzzle getting the right vehicles in and out - even when not slippery) and extra work from road-grittin… Continue

Planning Applications in Perry Vale

We can't yet get an automated feed of this from the Council's system, or filter on recent/current applications. (We're working with the IT system supplier on improving this.)

Click on this link (should open in a new browser tab or window), select "Perry Vale" from the Ward Name dropdown, then click the "Search" button.

Below are reports on Planning Applications in Perry Vale scheduled for hearing at Planning Committee meetings:
(Depends on manual tagging, so don't rely on us tagging them all, yet! Note that minor and non-controversial cases will not be heard at a committee.)

I think there are three important places that these countdowns should be installed: Junction of Brockley Rise (the existing one you refer to) and Stanstead Road, telephone exchange on Waldram Park Road, and outside Forest Hill station at the 356 bus…
